Gwendolyn Mallory has landed her dream job. After years at a small fashion retailer, she’s been given a chance to show off her public relations skills for a major brand. What woman wouldn’t be excited to work for Prada in New York City?

Former male model turned Prada Brand Manager, Andrew Morgan is ready to move on with his life—his wife passed away from cancer fifteen months ago. Even though he and Gwen share an initial fiery spark, getting involved with a co-worker has always been on Andrew’s to-don’t list.

The weeks leading up to an L.A. fashion show bring Andrew and Gwen closer to the flame. At night, she dreams of this tall handsome man taking her on his desk. And Andrew is having a hard time keeping his own fantasies under control. But when one of the designers vies for Gwen’s affections, Andrew is awash with jealousy. And out of excuses.

After the show, they share an intense, passionate kiss and some killer heavy petting in one of the dressing rooms. And in her bed, Gwen brings out the man Andrew used to be, wild and hungry. But in the afterglow of their bliss, Andrew learns Gwen has been hiding something about her health. Unable to deal with all that pain again, he leaves.

During a business trip to Milan, Gwen and Andrew give into the heat still smoldering between them. Then Gwen finds out she’s about to be transferred to Italy. Andrew doesn’t want to hold her back from such a great opportunity, but he can’t live without her. He proposes in hopes of keeping her in New York, with him.
What woman wouldn’t be excited to marry a devilishly handsome man in a Prada wedding gown?

EXCERPT:
It was a secret Gwen
would keep throughout the day. A secret for her and Andrew to share.

Gwen and Andrew… That did
have a nice ring to it.

“So, he takes up a lot of
oxygen in the room, doesn’t he?” Andrew pushed on one of his knees and stood.

“Salvatore’s all showy
though.” Gwen fingered the skirt and swooshed the fabric back and forth.

“Do you prefer a man who
is more subtle?”

It was the first time
he’d dared to ask her personal preferences for a mate, and before he could
retract his question or dilute it, she said firmly, “Yes, on the surface.” And smoldering underneath. Like you Andrew.

He stepped a few inches
away. “I’m still concerned all the attention will be on you in that dress.” He held his chin, smooth and fresh.

“I was planning on wearing
my hair up.” She gathered a handful of waves and swept them away from her face.
But when he only stared at her bracelets as they clanged together, she let the
bundle fall. “Or—”

“No. No.” The words
caught in his throat. His fingers brushed past her cheek, lifting the hair off
her shoulders again. “This is perfect.”

Yes,
it is perfect.
And he should be kissing her by now.
Those amazing lips, pink and full on hers…and on other parts of her body,
making her feel alive.

His eyes bore into hers,
but he said nothing. Gwen preferred to not
have to make the first move. How would she know if Andrew really wanted her in
the first place, and wasn’t just taking advantage of a willing partner? But how
long could she wait for him, before a crazy impulse took hold of her?

“I guess it’s settled.
I’m wearing my hair up tomorrow,” she whispered, locking eyes with him.

He cleared his throat and
stepped back, letting her hair fall. The weight of so many waves warmed her
skin, even though she preferred the heat coming off his body. She stepped back
as well and slipped into co-worker mode. “Andrew, be honest. Is this dress…too
much? I prefer clothes that are simple and classic. Conservative even.”

“I would call you
classic, Gwen. But not simple. You wear our clothes beautifully.” He ran his
hand over the suit jacket she had draped on a desk chair. “The way they sit on
you tells a story of…of the woman we know other women want to be.”

The compliment left her
breathless. “Thank you, Andrew.”

“No, Gwen. I want to
thank you.” His shoulders softened. “I need you to know, I couldn’t have done
this without you.”

“That’s not true.” She
swiped at eyes she suspected were shiny with tears, she wouldn’t let fall.
Better to be respected as an equal, and not thought of as a weepy lightweight.
“You’ve run plenty of these shows.”

“Yes, and I know what it
takes to pull this off. There was no way I could have done what you’ve done…for
this show.” He ran a hand through his
hair, his wedding band was—gone!

The sight took Gwen’s own
breath away. She twisted her hair to the side, to keep her hands busy. “Did you
want to do one final walk through for tomorrow?”

“No. We’re set.” He bent
down to the pick up the shoebox. His back straightened, emphasizing his
dramatic height.

She moved toward Andrew
to hug him. Immediately there was a different feel to his touch from the night
of their first drink. The night when everything had turned around. And upside
down. His fingers pressed into her skin. His body molded against hers. Oh, the
smell of him, musky and woodsy. Masculine. There it was, his heart, beating
wildly. There was so much of this man, his heart must work so hard to pump his
rich blood through so many veins.

The feel of his grip
softening, meant it was time for her to let go. “Have a good night Andrew.” She
touched his hands and leaned upward for a kiss on the cheek. The edge of his
mouth—warm and tender as she remembered—caught the corner of her lips. Tickle, Tickle went her stomach.

A strand of her long hair
caught in his collar, binding them together for a brief moment. Creating a
bridge that could bring them together…if someone was brave enough to cross.

EXCERPT:

I jerked off after my late lunch, thinking I’d be more relaxed and in control once Jade arrived for my…little test. No such damn luck. Nancy rang to let me know Jade had arrived and I instantly went hard. I wanted to tell Nancy to just send her on in, but the gentleman in me wouldn’t allow such an action, hard-on or not.

Standing, I buttoned my suit coat to hide the bulge in my pants and headed for the office door. When I pulled it open, our gazes collided and my attention slid down her neck to where her pulse thrummed. Satisfaction coursed through me.

“Jade,” I smiled, knowing the lust simmering inside of me shone in my eyes. “Come on in.” I stepped back, gesturing her past me and breathing in the scent of snickerdoodles. My hand moved without thought to rest on her lower back as she walked into my office. Her breath caught, and a quick glance up into my face had me jerking my hand away.

Fuck. Can’t touch.

I cleared my throat and shut the door behind her. “You look amazing.”

Pink tinged her cheeks. “Thank you.”

“Why don’t you have a seat on the couch today?” I motioned toward the loveseat beneath my office’s lone window with its upward slanting blinds for privacy.

I sat in my office chair but swiveled to my right to face her.

Jade perched on the couch’s edge, knees together and hands folded on her lap.

I took my time drinking in the sight of her—barely there makeup, hair caressing her shoulders, naked lips, and that dress.

Goddamn, she’d never looked better. The color of her name, the dress wrapped snug around her, the cleavage of her pert breasts barely concealed by the deep V-neck. Stiff nipples, bare legs, and strappy tan heels…and if she followed my thoughts for our meeting, no panties.

My cock strained, hands shook.

Get a grip, man. You’re thirty-five years old, for Christ’s sake, not some teenage jerkoff who can’t control his shit.

“How am I supposed to keep my hands off you?” I murmured, tearing my attention from the darkness between her legs.

Her blush deepened as she shrugged.

I forced myself to settle in my chair. “Sit back, darling. Relax.”

She eased backward into the couch, but tension hitched her shoulders high.

I wanted the test I had in mind to reveal what I hoped it would, but being strung tight would hinder her response to me. “How was your week?”

“Long and boring, same as last week.” She sucked in her lower lip and released it, sending another jolt of lust straight to my cock. “I’ll admit, my nervousness over today probably made it worse.”

“What are you nervous about?”

“The meaning of your note. Your plan.” Her voice escaped as a whisper, and she swallowed. “Wondering if you’ll finally touch me beyond a mere brush of fingers.”

My hand flexed at the thought as my heart picked up pace. “More than anything, I want that exact thing.”

We stared at each other for a few long seconds, the sexual tension thick between us.

I needed to wait until Nancy left. “All in good time,” I finally said, needing to clear my throat. “For now, talk to me. Tell me about your hobbies. What you like to do for fun.”

Jade heaved a deep breath, her breasts rising and drawing my focus downward. Pebbled and begging for my teeth, her nipples pressed tight against the green material covering them.

“Talk to me, Jade,” I encouraged, returning my gaze to her face with a slight smirk which she returned.
A half hour flew by as we chatted, and the inner office ring of my phone startled me. I picked up. “Yes, Nancy?”

“If you don’t mind, I’m going to head out early for the day.”

“That’s fine. I’ll finish up with Miss Matthews here in a few minutes. Would you mind locking the front door on your way out?” I asked as always whenever she left before me.

She agreed and I hung up, turning back to Jade. Her brow furrowed, she played with the ties of her wrap dress.

“Jade.” She glanced up. “Close your eyes for me.”

She obeyed without hesitation, her brow smoothing, and my chest swelled with the trust she showed me.

“I’m going to tell you a story, and I want you to imagine it in your mind. Can you do that for me?”

Her plump lower lip disappeared inside her mouth again as she nodded.

The sound of the front door closing filtered through the blood rushing between my ears.

Time to play.

BOOK TRAILER

YOUR REVIEW

★★★★

This is the second book I’ve read from Rebecca Rohman. The story revolves around Morgan Drake and Zoe Jenkins. I read about them briefly in Love, Lies & A Bleu Christmas; but only knew them as friends of Jada and Jonathan. Love M.D. focuses on the love story of Morgan and Zoe.

One thing I’ve noticed with Rohman’s books is there’s a lot of drama and suspense involved in them. In Love M.D. there’s a lot going on including murder, police investigations, stalkers, and a medical mystery. Then of course there’s the developing romance between Morgan and Drake. There’s a lot that’s going on throughout the story and a times it can be a bit confusing, but it also keeps you in suspense, making you want to learn what’s going on.

The attraction between Morgan and Zoe is steamy, they’re both hardworking professionals, yet have been spurned in the past. Their similar backgrounds are what make their connection special. You can seen the love growing between them in their scenes.

This was an enjoyable read, the romance elements were wonderful and the suspenseful plot was edgy. If you’re a fan of romantic suspense novels, I recommend Rebecca Rohman’s books.

Last Shot at Justice by Kristi Cramer

Today I am so happy to be helping out on the week-long, new release party for Kristi Cramer’s novel, Last Shot at Justice!

Buy it here for only $0.99!

Detective Mitzi Reardon just became the prime suspect in a murder she didn’t commit. On the run from enemies and coworkers alike, Mitzi must put her trust in Blue Thomas, an old-school cowboy from Kansas. Against all odds, they must bring the real killer to justice.

As a trap closes around them, Mitzi devises a bold escape strategy that may just get both of them killed.

“Kristi Cramer knows how to keep the suspense pumping in this never-a-dull-moment thriller.” Calvin Dean, author of Curses, A Door Unlocked, and The Epitaph of Jonas Barloff.

“Stunning dialogue between the characters. Humorous and action-packed. Blue feels like a real person.” N.D. Taylor, author of The Spellbound Consortium series of Urban Fantasy.

Last Shot at Justice is A Thomas Family Novel, a series of suspenseful standalone novels featuring characters connected to the Thomas Family of Syracuse, Kansas. (Series was formerly titled The Boys of Syracuse, Kansas.)

Excerpt:

Mitzi looked to see the cowboy holding his coat open, inviting her to step under it. “I’m all right,” she demurred.

“You’re wet enough,” he said. “Walk with me under here and you won’t get worse.”

She almost protested, then realized she might be less conspicuous outside if she accepted his offer. She stepped under his proffered arm and stretched one arm across his waist to latch onto his belt, the other pulled his coat close around her. He was so much taller than her that she fit right under his arm, and his coat formed a tent above her. Most important to her at the moment was the fact that he was warm, and big enough to offer real protection against the danger she was in—though it went against all her training to involve him.

In the moment before they moved, she studied his face again. Lightly tanned skin, high cheekbones, strong chin, straight nose. Fair-colored brows slightly furrowed above curious brown eyes that softened his otherwise angular face. His mild, vaguely bemused expression suggested she had nothing to worry about. From him.

Stepping out the door into the pouring rain, he guided her to the right. There was no one on the street outside the 8-Ball Tavern, and she breathed a sigh of relief before urging the man along. He looked down at her from beneath his cowboy hat and walked faster.

Lord, he’s a monster, she thought. He seemed pretty clueless about what was going on though. She figured he must be one of those more-brawn-than-brains football lineman types, which was just as well. He wouldn’t ask questions, and she could go on her way in the morning without worrying that he would get in trouble on her account.

A man in a gray raincoat rounded the corner, looking the other way, and bumped into them. Mitzi thought he looked like the man she hadn’t recognized at the murder scene.

“Pardon us, mister,” the cowboy whom the bartender had called Blue said, turning her aside to pass him. She tried not to physically shrink away.

The man grabbed her escort’s arm, and Blue turned.

Mitzi peered out from inside the coat as the man sized Blue up, then glanced at her.

“She all right?”

She tightened her arm around his waist, and Blue nodded slowly, spoke even slower. “My sister’s just a little drunk. I gotta take her home to Daddy or he’ll skin me alive.”

The man gave her another glance, then nodded. “Better take care of her, then.” His tone dripped with sarcasm that the cowboy didn’t even acknowledge.

“You can be sure, mister.”

The two of them walked around the corner and Mitzi suddenly found it hard to stand on her own two feet, much less walk. When she stumbled, Blue scooped her up as easily as she might pick up a bag of Mr. Tuggles’ cat food and carried her to a beat-up brown Dodge pickup.

Without setting her down, Blue pulled the passenger door open and set her inside. He peered at her briefly from under the brim of his hat, a small worried frown turning thin lips down. Then he withdrew and closed the door, shutting her inside while the rain poured down like bullets on the metal of the truck.

Shivering, she reached over to unlock his door only to discover it wasn’t locked.

He opened the driver’s door and slid onto the seat, glancing at her as he closed the door. Without a word, he turned the engine over and started driving away. She slumped down in the seat so she couldn’t be seen from outside and looked up to see him adjusting the heater setting.

“Is that your real name? Blue?”

He nodded without taking his eyes from the road. The wipers flashed across the windshield to sweep away the heavy rain.

“Where’re you from, Blue?”

“Kansas, ma’am. Close by Syracuse.”

“Well, thank you for doing this for me.” The truck had picked up speed after making a few turns, and she figured they were far enough away that she could sit up. It was nearly impossible to tell where they were, though judging by the increasing hills they were heading west, away from Mile High Stadium. “How well do you know Denver?”

“Not very. I’ve only been here a couple weeks.” He squinted out the window, searching for street signs.

“Do you know where we are?”

“Well now, I think I missed my turn a ways back.”

Headlights appeared in the darkness behind them, and Mitzi turned to look out the back window. The car was coming fast, and she let out a creative oath.

“Faster, Blue.”

“I need to turn around,” he said.

“Do it later.”

“But….”

“I’ll find our way to your place. Right now, I want you to lose the car that’s behind us.” She put as much authority in her voice as she could and hoped he would do as she instructed.

Before he could say anything, the car behind them turned on police lights and flashed headlights to signal him to pull over.

“It’s the police,” he said in surprise, starting to pull over.

She jerked the wheel back, sending the truck lurching away from the curb. “Don’t stop. Lose them.”

“Listen, I don’t have license plates; they’re after me.”

“No, Blue! If you pull over, I’m dead. You understand?” She tried to push her foot down on the accelerator.

“Come on. They don’t shoot hookers on sight. Just let me….”

The unmarked police car behind them bumped them lightly, and Blue gently but inexorably pushed her away from the driver’s side of the truck and pulled over under a street light. “Just sit tight,” he told her. “Nothing’s going to happen to you.”

“Blue!” she struggled against his restraining hand, but she could only move away from him—she couldn’t make him drive away.

Behind them, the passenger side of the police car opened up, and a man in a raincoat stepped out. She struggled harder as she recognized the man they’d bumped into. Instead of heading to Blue’s door, he headed for her side of the truck.

“Please,” she said, turning frantically to Blue. “He’s going to kill me!”
