2017 Reads

Yesterday, I talked about my top ten books of 2016.

I read a wide range of books, everything from romance to scifi to paranormal.

Last year, I aimed to read 100 books during the Goodreads Challenge. I came up short with 64 books, yet I’m happy with my progress.

This year, I think I’ll stick with a lower number for the challenge. Maybe around 50 or 60 would be good.

I’ve stocked up on plenty of books this year and I’m compiling a list of what I want to read in the New Year.

Here’s a glimpse at some of the stories I hope to read.

Under the Dome

As I mentioned in a post eons ago, I was a fan of the TV show. Then I got the book to read. I made it to around the 100 page mark, then life took over and the book went on the back burner. I’m determined to start reading the book again, hopefully this time I’ll be able to finish it.

I still have around 900 pages to go, so wish me luck.

November 9

Colleen Hoover is a name I’ve heard a lot on social media. She’s one of the most popular romance novelists in the book community. After hearing everyone brag about her work, I decided to buy one of Hoover’s books. November 9 intrigued me the most and I’m curious to see if Hoover lives up to the hype.

Blossom (Bloom Series Book 2)

One of my top 10 books from last year was Cathy Jackson’s Bloom. It was a sweet Christian romance about letting go of the past and finding true love.

Blossom, book 2 in the series follows Phoenix and John as they move on to the next step in their relationship.

Alabama Skye

I became hooked on J.C. Wing’s work last year when I read the hilarious romantic story Dead Beat Dates & Deities. Now, I’m going to read her more serious work about a family saga.

I won a copy of this book in an auction. Jessica Wilde is another romance author I’ve heard high praise from. Vivid is one of her most talked about books and it sounds like an emotionally gripping book, which is my favorite type of romance stories.

Black Horse

Addison Kline is an author I came across a few years ago. Again like Colleen Hoover and Jessica Wilde, she received positive from readers. I read Kline’s book Shadow Dancer a while back, afterwards I was hooked. Shadow Dancer is more of a mystery, whereas Black Horse is a motorcycle romance.  I’m anxious to see if Kline can create the same emotionally charged drama like she did in Shadow Dancer.

Ghosts! Washington Revisited

I couldn’t let my list go by without including one ghost book. I got this book about Washington ghosts last year, but haven’t gotten around to reading it. It’s one of the many ghost books I plan to read this year. I’m curious to learn about the history and haunting of our nation’s capital.

Now that you know about my 2017 reads, it’s time to tell yours. What books do you want to read in the new year?
