Inspirational Teacher

At one point in our lives, we had that one teacher who inspired us.

For me, that person is Mrs. Grant, my high-school drama teacher. During high school, I was a shy kid. I felt like I didn’t belong. I kept mostly to myself.

In my junior year, I took drama classes. Mrs. Grant was the teacher, in the winter months she’d put on short plays, then in the spring she conducted the annual musical.

Around that time I started to come out of my shell and I was always interested in theater, so I decided to take a drama class.

Mrs. Grant was one of those eccentric teachers. She always wore floral dress, charm bracelets, talked about wrestling, and played classical music. You just had to meet her.

At times, she could get a bit tough, especially with troublesome students. But other than that, she was nice.

She pushed you to be your best. I remember during rehearsals for our plays, she’d tell students to put vim and vigor into their performances. She’s one of those teachers, who believed in you and encouraged you to pursue your dreams.

She taught me how to overcome my shyness, and she taught me that I could do anything if I set my mind to it.

Sadly, she passed away a few years ago. But the memories of her will never be forgotten.
