It’s a new month and a new topic for the Authors Blog Challenge. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading the posts so far. As always, everyone’s welcome to join in, the more the merrier.
This week’s topic is A Day In The Life.
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like in my everyday life, here’s your chance to see for yourself. Word of warning though, my days may not seem that exciting, but this is what I love to do.
My morning starts off a little after seven. After washing up and getting dressed, I’ll take my dog Leah out for a quick walk. Then when I come back in, I’ll grab a snack and Carnation Breakfast Essential. I’m not much of a big breakfast person, so I’ll just get a little something to tide me over.
As I’ve stated in previous posts I work at home. One of my many jobs is Executive Assistant for All Authors run by my good friend/amazingly talented author, Y. Correa. By the way, if any of you haven’t done so, I recommend you check out some of the works published by All Authors Publishing House. (Sorry, I had to give a quick shout out to my friends, they’ve been a great help to me throughout my writing career). My tasks include, replying to emails, drafting blog posts, scheduling Facebook posts, updating the Google calendar, and emailing my boss her list of reminders.
One thing you should know is when I’m working I like to have the TV on the background. Some of the shows you’ll see me watching are Married With Children, Maury, Jerry Springer, and The Price Is Right.
Most of the time my All Authors tasks don’t take that long to complete. If I finish early, then I’ll do some writing, editing, blogging, making teasers, and work with my other jobs, which include data entry work and transcription.
At around 12:30, I break for lunch. Usually, I just pop in a frozen pizza or TV dinner, but other times my mom will fix a big meal.
During my break, I catch up on the soaps. As everyone knows, I’m a huge soap fanatic and they are a huge inspiration behind my books. The current shows I watch are The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. Sometimes it can be exciting, but if it’s boring, then I’ll grab a book to read.
Following lunch, if I don’t have anything important planned such as a book party takeover or a meeting, then I’ll take a short nap for about 30 minutes or an hour. I tend to have trouble sleeping at night and may not get much rest, so sometimes I can be a bit crabby throughout the day.
When I wake up from my nap, I’ll feel energized and log back into the computer to do more work. During this time, I’ll promote my books or my other side businesses, do some more data entry work, and write a little on my stories.
As far as work goes, I’ll work until about 5 or 6, then call it a day. After that, I’m through with work for the evening.
Once I’m done with work, I go over to my dad’s house. (My parents live across the road from each other). We keep our oldest dogs Dee Dee and Dexter over there. During the evening, I go over there to feed them and play with them a while. That’s one of the highlights of my day is spending time with these two.
At the end of the day to unwind I like to do a variety of things. One thing I’ve been doing a lot lately is exercising. I’m trying to get active and I’ll either do a quick run or yoga session. When I’m done exercising, I like to rest on the couch to read a book, color, or play Candy Crush and Pet Rescue.
As the hours of the day wind down, I start to get ready for bed. I’ll brush my teeth, then take a shower before crawling into the bed. I try to go to bed at around 12, but sometimes my night owl tendencies tend to keep me up later than usual. As long as I get a few hours of sleep to help me prepare for the next day’s activities, I’m all good.
