Title: Punishment without Crime

Author: Al Strans

Genre: Crime

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*

The story revolves around the captivating Camilla, her daughter Regina, and son-in-law Tom. Camilla becomes a fixture in their marriage as she teaches the couple about love and sex. Before long Camilla and Tom begin a short-lived affair and when he’s arrested for a crime he didn’t commit, the family’s secrets become newspaper fodder.

Camilla was an intriguing character, not only was she very beautiful, but she was also smart, sophisticated, and captivating. I liked reading about her history with her family and how she become a successful psychologist, wife, and mother.

As I was reading the story, I felt like I was swept up in a Lifetime movie or the plot of a crime show. There’s lots of elements of drama to grab your attention. The story while interesting comes across as weird at times, especially with Camilla teaching her newly married daughter and her husband about sex. There were some scenes that were uncomfortable to read.

Another bring problem about the book is how it jumped around to various POVs, while the book focuses on Camilla, Tom, Regina, it also has POVs from Albert, Camilla’s husband and how he was suffering a mid-life crisis. While I felt sorry for Albert and his loveless marriage with Camilla, I felt that his parts slowed down the novel a bit.

I should caution everyone, this book deals with adult material and is not suited for everyone so please be advised.
